Bob's Marbles

In the passing of George Steinbrenner, Principle Owner of the New York Yankees, we witness the end of an era where owning a team meant something a lot more than profits, balance sheets and the bottom line. George Steinbrenner took this to the nth degree. Winning was all that mattered to him. Even if it dug deep into own his pocket book. Love him or hate him. But, you couldn't ignore him. And, it was this simple truth that made baseball (the American League anyway) better. You knew George was going to put a product on the field that was built to win, year in and year out. So, if you didn't want to get run over, you'd better make a move.

RIP Mr. Steinbrenner.
