More Yankee Hatred!

Yet another travesty in the world of professional sports was announced today. Derek Jeter, starting short stop for the New York Yankees was shafted out of MLB's Most Valuable Player award. Instead, the sports "writers" (some would call them haters) in the BBWAA awarded it to Justin Morneau of the Minnesota Twins. This annoys me no end. A lot of people, including me, believe this is merely an anti-Yankee bias running rampant throughout the country. I hear all the excuses why Jeter didn't win:

  • Less Homeruns
  • Less RBI's
  • Less Hits
Well, it's kind of difficult for a #2 hitter to drive in a lot of runs since he's the guy scoring them. Jeter's not a power hitter. LOL, even on artificial turf, Jeter batted some 20 points higher than Morneau and drove in not that many less runs! The prevailing knock against Jeter is that his team is too good and too well balanced. Therefore, diluting his presence. What complete nonsense. So, I guess Morneau really outshines the rest of his teammates like Santana, Liriano, Mauer and Hunter. One can just look at this farce and laugh and look forward to the 2007 season. Jeter was robbed plain and simple.
