The More Things Change the More They Stay the Same

Mitt says:
"The nation, as you know, is at a critical point. At a time like this, we can't risk partisan bickering and political posturing. Our leaders have to reach across the aisle to do the people's work. And we citizens also have to rise to the occasion."

Mitch says:
"The voters have not endorsed the failures or excesses of the president's first term, they have simply given him more time to finish the job they asked him to do together with a Congress that restored balance to Washington after two years of one-party control.
"Now it's time for the president to propose solutions that actually have a chance of passing the Republican-controlled House of Representatives and a closely divided Senate, step up to the plate on the challenges of the moment, and deliver in a way that he did not in his first four years in office.

Really Mitch? Somehow, these two notions are at complete odds with each other.  McConnell and the republicans know that Obama already tried this and it got him absolutely nowhere. This is what the republicans were (and are) all about. Not the good of the country. But, defeat Obama.  FAILED!

Don't expect anything different from this government. They are not willing to work together as long as "this President" is in office. This president serves as a stark reminder of an inevitable tide of change that too many Americans just can't deal with.

Four More

My deepest thanks go out to thinking Americans with a memory: who were not fooled and refused Mitt's amnesia pills disguised as candy.  But, the following cast of characters deserves honorable mention for making this election memorable (the order in which they appear does not necessarily correlate to their level of stupidity):

  •  The Birthers
  • Tea (baggers) Party
  • Clint Eastwood and his chair
  • Rudy Guilianni
  • John Sununu
  • Christians for the Defeat of Barack Obama (Yeah, you read right)
  • Donald Trump
  • The Husseiners
  • Rush Limbaugh
  • All the trolls at Fox Noise
  • The Crotch (Koch) Brothers
  • Sarah "Shuck N Jive" Palin
  • The entire cast of clowns running for the Republican Presidential Nomination

If I left you out, I humbly apologize.  I firmly believe this cadre of fools made this victory even sweeter than the first.  Keep it up boys and girls. May your performance in elections to come be equally stellar.
